Access Statement - Waren

The site consists of four public buildings, being the Main Reception building, Tourer’s Reception building and 2 no. WC’s/Shower buildings. There are 235 privately owned caravan holiday homes, 9 privately owned lodges, 27 park operated caravan holiday homes, 8 park operated wigwams and 139 touring/motorhome/camping pitches positioned within the site. The caravan site is located on the North West side of the small town of Bamburgh. Access to the site is gained off a small “B” class road with adequate signage provided.

The Main Reception building is a single storey building with part stone wall finish and part timber wall finish with a tiled pitched roof and with a conservatory extension to the bar/restaurant area in glass and PVC. The building contains the reception area, shop, office, bar, restaurant, games room, disabled WC, ladies and gentlemen WC’s with showers and WC’s to rear adjoining the external swimming pool. Level access is available to the reception area but a small step is in place on route to the shop and the restaurant/bar area. Staff are available at reception to assist where necessary. Within the restaurant/bar area a disabled WC is available with adequate grip rails to assist persons with walking difficulties. Level access is available within the shop, games room and restaurant/bar areas.

The Tourer’s WC/Shower facilities is a single storey building with part brick and part timber walls and a tiled pitched roof. The building contains ladies and gentlemen WC, hand basins, showers, laundrette, chemical waste disposal and wash up sinks. Level access is available to all areas with central WC’s/shower compartments large enough to accommodate wheelchair users and with a dedicated easy access wet room comprising shower, WC, wash basin, seat, baby change and baby seat. A bath is also available.

The WC’s/Shower facility close to the Chalet Park is also a single storey building with part stone and part timber walls and a pitched roof. The building contains ladies and gents WC, showers, wash basins and kitchen/diner for sole use of wigwam guests and laundrette, providing a disabled toilet compartment in both ladies and gents toilet areas.

Of the 27 park operated caravan holiday homes to hire, one is designed as an easy access unit with full wide access low gradient decking ramp, on pitch parking, full WC, shower wet room, lowered kitchen units, lifting ids, easy access beds and wide sliding doors throughout.

Access roads are provided within the site with lighting and signage.

The local taxi companies, both based in Alnwick, have vehicles suitable for wheelchair users. Please advise them of you needs when booking a taxi.

Assistance dogs are welcome on the Park and there is a “dog exercising” area to the rear of the park.

We take the safety of our customers very seriously and therefore there is a 10mph speed limit throughout the Park with clearly marked speed bumps in several location. The speed bumps are very gentle and their presence makes the parks safer for everyone.
