Access Statement - Mortonhall
The site consists of six public buildings being the Reception, Courtyard and 4 no. Toilet/Shower Facilities. There are 20 Caravan Holiday Homes, 200 pitches available for mobile caravans, 250 pitches for camping. There are 4 wigwams and 3 Shepherd Huts with en-suite facilities positioned within the site. The caravan park is located on the south side of the City of Edinburgh. Access to the site is gained off the north side of Frogston Road East with adequate signage provided. Should you use SatNav to find us, please use our address rather than postcode.
The Reception building is a single storey building with timber wall finishes and tiled pitched roof. The building contains the reception area, licensed shop, games room and an easy access toilet. Level approach to the building is available with level internal access round reception and shop areas. The rear disabled toilet is spacious with grip rails provided to aid persons with walking difficulties. Staff are available at reception to assist where necessary.
The Courtyard Building is a single building with stone walls and a slate pitched roof. The building contains a kitchen, laundry, TV/games room, baby changing area and disabled toilet/shower. Adjoining the courtyard building are the ladies and gents toilet facilities with underfloor heating. An access ramp to the baby changing and the disabled toilet is available, the disabled toilet is spacious with grip rails provided and level internal access to the shower area. Although one step is in place at entrance doors to kitchen, laundry and TV/games rooms, level internal access is available in all areas and the play area and Bar & Restaurant can be accessed across a cobbled courtyard where pets are welcome.
The three Toilet/Shower facilities are single storey with slate pitched roofs, containing ladies and gents toilet/showers and sinks. Toilet/Shower building on north of site also contains facilities, which would allow access for a disabled person. One facility is on a level with “pod” style toilet, shower and basin in one room. Two of the facilities have four steps leading down into them.
One of the Caravan Holiday Homes have been designed to aid those with reduced mobility. Facilities provided are ramped access to the entrance door, complete with wider door frames, lower work surfaces, wet room toilet and shower with DocM fittings and 2x3ft divan beds in the main bedroom (makes up into a king sized bed). The Holiday Home is pet friendly and parking is available to the side of the holiday home.
Access roads are provided within the site with lighting and signage.
There are many taxi companies in and around Edinburgh, most have specially adapted vehicles suitable for wheelchair users. Please advise them of your needs when booking a taxi.

There are regular bus services from Mortonhall taking passengers directly into Scotland’s Capital City of Edinburgh every 10 minutes during the day. The bus stop is 600m from the park entrance. Full timetables and routes are available from Reception.

Assistance dogs are welcome on the Park and there is a ‘dog exercising’ area within the park.

We take the safety of our customers very seriously and therefore there is a 10mph speed limit throughout the Park with clearly marked speed bumps in several locations. The speed bumps are very gentle and their presence makes the parks safer for everyone.
